La Aurora actively contributes to improving society and the environment through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plans. In this scope, we close this year with several initiatives in place and others ready to be implemented.
“Our social responsibility program is focused on meeting the goals defined in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development,” explains the Head of the Human Resources Department, Nora Colón.
These goals include programs focused on the environment and the ones targeting people. For example, this year we have cleaned the beach of the Puerto Plata boardwalk, collecting 463 pounds of plastic waste from the shore.
We have also planted 800 plants thanks to the participation of 60 employees, as we can see in this video:
“With our annual tree planting, we have closed our environmental program and are already committed to making this program, and others, ongoing initiatives in 2020,” explains Colón.
Housing assistance, among our social responsibility actions
As for the housing plan, this is a program that emerged in the company several years ago, aiming to improve people’s quality of life. Thanks to financial contributions, the company helps people access homes with—at least—basic services, such as proposed by Goal 11 of the 2030 Agenda.
“This year, 15 employees with very critical needs have been selected, precisely because they lacked basic services in their homes,” details La Aurora’s Head of Human Resources.
On the other hand, this year, La Aurora celebrated the fourth edition of the La Aurora corre 5K (La Aurora 5K Run) within the framework of corporate social responsibility plans. “We enforce our commitment to caring for the individual wellness of our employees, motivating them to include in their daily routines healthy habits that strengthen their physical and emotional health,” Nora Colón points out.
