La Aurora Preferidos Hors d’Age has received a magnificent rating of 93 points from the magazine ‘Enthusiast Report’. More specifically, the magazine awarded this great mark in its blind tasting to the Toro vitola (5 3/4 x 54) of this cigar from the Preferidos line, which is elaborated over a dedicated twelve year period from the time the seed is planted until the cigar is rolled.
Its wrapper is made of Sumatra seed that is grown in Ecuador, its binder is also Ecuadorian and its filler has tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Nicaragua. Its strength is medium-strong. Its smoke gives off incredible aromas, starting off with spicy notes of black pepper, which open up to give way to more complex and delicate flavours. The presence of wood is evident throughout the smoke, but it is enriched with hints of cinnamon, nuts and even citrus. There are also hints of roasted coffee.
In addition to this great score, La Aurora Preferidos Hors d’Age has received numerous accolades. For example, it was considered by ‘Cigar Journal’ magazine as one of the best cigars of 2022, occupying the sixth place in that ranking of the 25 best cigars of the year.
Likewise, in 2021 ‘The Cigar Authority’ awarded 95 points to La Aurora Preferidos Hors d’Age in Toro format. “Smooth, well-balanced, with an incredible aroma and a great flavour profile”, is how the reviewer described our cigar. Additionally that year, ‘Cigar Journal’ placed it among the best of the year, highlighting the time invested in it and the first-class tobacco used in its construction. It was also in the Top 20 of the magazine ‘Cigar & Spirits’ in 2021.
