In the making of a cigar, every stage of the process is essential, and the selection of leaves serves as the foundation upon which the sensory profile, consistency, and character of each blend developed by La Aurora are built.
The leaves that make up a blend must undergo a rigorous curing and fermentation process and must possess the right texture and characteristics to ensure the perfect balance of strength, aroma, and even combustion. Selecting them requires not only experience but also deep knowledge of tobacco and how it behaves throughout every phase of the process.
This responsibility lies with Manuel Inoa, our Master Blender at La Aurora, who has dedicated his career to ensuring that every cigar faithfully represents the legacy of the Dominican Republic’s first cigar factory.
“Leaf selection goes far beyond visual appearance,” says Manuel Inoa. “It involves knowing the origin of each leaf, its curing and fermentation history, and assessing whether it has the character required to be part of a balanced and memorable blend.”
Under Inoa’s supervision, each leaf is meticulously evaluated before becoming part of a final blend, ensuring that the end result reflects La Aurora’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and tradition.
This focus on selecting the finest raw material is what allows La Aurora to maintain its reputation as a global benchmark for quality in the cigar industry.
