La Aurora Hors d’Age returns to the US market following its introduction at the Tobacco Products Expo (TPE), which took place from 22nd to 24th February in Las Vegas, USA. This is the 2021 version.
This is a 6 x 54 toro extra cigar that uses tobaccos from four countries: the wrapper and binder come from Ecuador, while the filler tobaccos are from Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, as reported by ‘Cigar Aficionado‘, ‘Halfwheel‘, ‘Cigar Coop‘ and ‘Deep Cuts Live‘ among others. It is called Hors d’Age 2021 because the cigars were rolled in 2021, but all its tobacco is 12 years old.
It is a limited edition of 700 boxes of 15 cigars, which will be available to buy in stores from March. According to our master blender, Manuel Inoa, it is “a well-balanced blend with a unique start for an extra aged cigar”.
La Aurora Hors d’Age, a cigar 12 years in the making
During the smoke, spicy notes of black pepper are present with more delicate flavours emerging from the background. “While the presence of wood is evident throughout the entire smoke, it is enriched by nuances of cinnamon, nuts, and even citrus in the finish,” explains Inoa, who also notes the emergence of hints of roasted coffee.
This cigar is the result of an investment in time and premium tobacco. We have invested 12 years from planting the seeds of the tobacco plant up until the rolling of the cigar. Our La Aurora Hors d’Age has a strength of 7.5 out of 10.
