La Aurora Cien Años Edición Especial is the “No. 1 cigar of the last decade (1910–1919)”, according to a ranking published by “Cigar Coop”. This cigar combines intense and rich flavors of “black chocolate, mocha, leather, cedar, walnut and pepper,” according to the tasting notes of the magazine.

“There is an intangible quality in how these flavors complement each other, gathering the features of an epic cigar,” says the author of the article, William Cooper, who also details how this cigar was born, on the occasion of the centenary of the factory (in 2003).

“To celebrate the occasion, La Aurora Cigars launched 100 Años, a limited-edition Dominican cigar that became one of the company’s most iconic releases,” explains Cooper, founder and Executive Director of “Cigar Coop”.

He adds that, to meet the consumer demand, La Aurora decided to re-release 100 Años in 2012 and, in this context, also presented La Aurora 100 Años Edición Especial, contained in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. It was a limited production periodic offer.

In addition to the prestigious first place as “Cigar of the Decade,” La Aurora 100 Años Edición Especial had also been awarded “Cigar of the Year” by “Cigar Coop” in 2013. This is also the cigar with the highest score in the history of this publication to date, with a rating of 98.

To compile this list of the best cigars of the decade, “Cigar Coop” has selected them among the cigars examined by the publication and launched between 2010 and 2019. The key point was to choose the highest quality. In total, 1,974 cigars were evaluated in this publication during the decade to earn the 25 positions.
